"ICT Student"

Just as technology is influencing and supporting what is being learned in schools and universities,so too is it supporting changes to the way students are learning. The use of ICT in educational settings, by itself acts as a catalyst for change in this domain.  ICTs by their very nature are tools that encourage and support independent learning.
Being an ICT student is quite hard. But I did my best to be a good student. And now that I will be leaving Ilocos Sur National High School, I am proud to say that I had learned a lot in ICT subject. I know that these learnings that  I have will help me in achieving my dreams.
I want to take this opportunity to thanks all the people who helped me for what I am now especially to our teacher in ICT that helped me understand and know more about manipulating computers.

"My Dream, My Future"

Life is a series of challenges but the most important thing is what each person does with those challenges and use the power tragedy to change life for the better.
Life ain't easy. We have to face first all the challenges that God will give to us in order to achieve our goals or dreams in life. Since I entered high school life, I started dreaming to be an accountant or to be a business woman someday. I know that this is not easy but ther's not one thing that I can't get for myself if I really want to. For as long as I will study hard, believe in myself, be strong and have faith in God, I can achieve my dream. If others can, why can't I? We're only poor but this will not be the hindrance on my way going to a better future.
If a dream is worth reaching, it's worth keeping until it comes true!!!

"Kannawidan: The Ylocos Festival"

Vigan took on a festive mood from January 28 to February 3, 2010 as the province of Ilocos Sur celebrated the Kannawidan Ylocos Festival. The festival aims to harness Ilocos Sur's rich historical values and products in order to attract foreign and local tourists and investors.
The Kannawidan, Ylocos Festival featured a Trade and Agricultural Fair and it is called Partuat ken Patanor or in english- Crafts and Produce. It is where Ilocos Sur craftsmen and farmers display their wares for sale. A shopper could get woven blankets called Abel, furniture, woodworks and sculptures, as well as the fabled bagnet and Vigan longganisa and others. The agricultural booth displayed enormous fruits such as tomatoes, squashes and watermelons.
Ilocos Sur residents showcased their talents throughout the festival. They presented traditional and contemporary dances as well as traditional Ilocano songs. The traditional theater art forms of komedya and zarzuela were also part of the celebration although, sadly, most of the audience showed only a momentary interest in these theatrical shows. Young ladies who are descendants of Ilocos Sur residents flaunted their beauty, talents and brains in the Saniata ti Ilocos Sur beauty pageant.
“Through this Kannawidan Ylocos Festival, an Iluko term which means feast of all heritages, practices and products in Ilocos Sur, we will showcase and promote our old customs, traditions, culture and products."

"New Year, New Me!"

Many choose the new year as the time to turn over a new leaf. Smokers vow to kick the foul habit. Some decide to change to a new and improved lifestyle. Habitual spendthrifts decide to mend their ways. And most of us, who enjoy eating unhealthy food, latch on the latest dieting fad. The new year symbolizes the birth of hope, and the renewal of life.  This year, I made a list of my new years resolution. Graduation is now approaching so I must be serious in my studies so that in college, I will not be hard up. This is he first in my list and the second is to be thrifty. I will save now money and not to buy something that is not important. Last but not the least is to become a good daughter to my parents.
Once you decide on a direction, just keep knocking on doors. One will open, and probably sooner than you expect. It is consistency, persistence and the ability to keep yourself moving toward your goals  even if you have been discouraged by the past ,that will allow things to happen for you.

"Keeping in Mind our Mother Tongue"

Every language spoken in the world represents a special culture, melody, color and asset and to everyone the mother language is certainly one of the most precious treasures in our lives. It’s a duty and responsibility to preserve it and pass it down from generation to generations.
Mother language has a very powerful impact in the formation of an individual. It brings about the reflection and learning of successful social patterns of acting and speaking. It is our first language, the beautiful sounds of which one hears and gets familiar with before being born while in the womb, has such an important role in shaping our thoughts and emotions. A child’s psychological and personality development will depend upon what has been conveyed through the mother tongue. With this in mind, as psychologists say, it matters tremendously that language expressions and vocabulary are chosen with care when we talk to children. A child’s first comprehension of the world around him, the learning of concepts and skills, and his perception of existence, starts with the language that is first taught to him, his mother tongue. In the same manner, a child expresses his first feelings, his happiness, fears, and his first words through his mother tongue. Mother language has such an important role in framing our thinking, emotions and spiritual world, because the most important stage of our life, childhood, is spent in its imprints. A strong bond between a child and his parents especially mother is established by virtue of love, compassion, body language, and also through the most important one, which is the verbal language. When a person speaks their mother tongue, a direct connection establishes between heart, brain and tongue. Our personality, character, modesty, shyness, defects, our skills, and all other hidden characteristics become truly revealed through the mother tongue because the sound of the mother tongue in the ear and its meaning in the heart give us trust and confidence.
Let us develop literacy in our mother tongue and take pride in our culture and country we originated in.

"Essence of Christmas"

Christmas is a sacred season when the hardened heart of man softens and shows love. It is the happiest day in the whole year, the finest day to rejoice and the coolest day of merry making. It is a time to remember in a very special way our families, relatives and friends.
Too much materialism in the world has diminished the real essence of Christmas: that of the coming of God our Father’s Son, Jesus Christ, into our world to save it from sinfulness and shame. Materials are not important to us, I mean these are not pertaining to tple value that makes relationships last longer and become smooths true essence of Christmas.  For me, Christmas is about love. Love conquers all. It conquers gift-giving and others. Gift- giving is an expression of one's love for others. It can also be a sign of one's gratitude or appreciation for the favor done. Be it an expression of love or gratitude, it is something pore. Christmas is also about caring another over yourself, spending the time to do the little things to make the holiday special for loved ones.
Let us give love to each other even though its not Christmas. Love our neighbors as we love ourselves.

"Make a Difference"

Every one of us is put in this world to contribute and make a difference to the world in our own unique way. It need not be anything out of the world. It just needs to be something you do with the intention of ‘doing good’.
Making a difference to the world may seem like an enormous task, but it is in fact the collective effort of everyone to make small contributions with a lot of heart. There is no one best time to start to make a difference to the world. We don’t need to wait till we have the time to share what we have now. Little efforts count, and we can start making small contributions today. We can change the world by helping one person at a time. One of the ways to help someone is to empower the person be being generous in giving praise and encouragement instead of criticism.  The best way to convince other people to make a difference is to lead and start doing whatever ability we have today..
Every effort counts, no matter how small and insignificant it may seem. Just do something, and do something good. We must work together for the betterment of our country.
